Solar Eclipse 2024
On April 8th, 2024, Waynewood Elementary transformed into a mini-mission control for a truly out-of-this-world experience – the solar eclipse! The day was filled with cosmic excitement as students embarked on a journey to learn about this awe-inspiring astronomical event.
Thanks to the PTA's incredible generosity, every student and staff member received a pair of approved solar eclipse glasses, ensuring safe viewing throughout the day. But the learning went far beyond just a glimpse at the darkened sun.
The day was packed with engaging activities that ignited students' curiosity about space. They grooved to music, participated in hands-on solar eclipse projects, and even crafted their own unique eclipse hats! Between these activities, students played games and enjoyed a fun-filled atmosphere that celebrated the wonders of the universe.
The solar eclipse provided a unique opportunity for Waynewood students to explore science in a real-world context. By combining safe viewing with interactive activities, the school fostered a love of learning and a sense of wonder about the cosmos. It was a day that will surely be remembered as Waynewood reached for the stars!
