English Language Arts Strategies
Outcome
- By the end of the 2023-2024 school year, 75% of students in grades K-3 will make their within-year growth target on iReady reading assessments.
Strategies
- Increase use of data (e.g., iReady, CORE, PASS, PRF, WIDA) to plan instruction and monitor progress for students demonstrating risk. (HLP 2-5)
- Improve use of interactive read alouds for building knowledge and vocabulary through texts that affirm students' lived experiences. (HLP 1,3)
- Increase impact of tier 2 interventions for students demonstrating risk by using the FCPS-recommended programs and practices with fidelity (e.g., Lexia, UFLI). (HLP 5)
Mathematics Strategies
Outcome
- The percentage of students in grades 3 and 4 who score a pass advanced on the SOL will increase from 24% to 28%.
- 100% of students in grades 3 and 4 will be taught at least two Advanced Math Curriculum Units.
Strategies
- Improve teachers' implementation of Framework for Engaging and Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.
- Increase teachers' implementation strategies related to Shift 8: from looking for correct answers towards revealing student thinking.
Portrait of a Graduate Strategies
Outcome
- By the end of the SY 2023-24: 100% of students in kindergarten through sixth grade will "get started" by scoring at least proficient on Criterion 3 of the POG POL rubric.
Strategies
- A Portrait of a Graduate Presentations of Learning Laboratory space will be created to optimize learning opportunities for all students to engage in hands-on activities to enhance students' collaboration and communication skills.
- In collaborative team meetings, grade level teachers will unpack POG attributes and skills an ensure implementation of POG related instructional experiences in all classrooms.
- Students will create presentations of learning by compiling evidence of POG skills to demonstrate growth.
